Warmly received, the new series co-produced with Rai Fiction and directed by Marco Pontecorvo, based on the novels of Andrea Vitali.
The prestigious stage of BIF&ST 2026 (Bari International Film & TV Festival) hosted the world premiere of Una finestra vistalago, the highly anticipated new television series directed by Marco Pontecorvo. The screening of the first episode, held on Monday, March 24 at the Teatro Kursaal Santalucia, marked a significant moment for Alexandra Film, which produced the work in co-production with Rai Fiction and Rai Com, in association with Elysia and in collaboration with Palomar.
Included in the “Doppio Testo” section, dedicated to the relationship between cinema and literature, the series brings to the small screen the narrative world of writer Andrea Vitali. At the center of the story is the young marshal Ernesto Maccadò (played by Antonio Folletto), a Calabrian transferred in the 1930s to the shores of Lake Como. Together with his wife Maristella (Giulia D’Aloia), Maccadò must learn to navigate a microcosm of eccentric characters, balancing irony, mystery, and the challenge of integrating into a community that is initially closed off.
During the discussion with the audience and school groups, moderated by journalist Chiara Tagliaferri, director Marco Pontecorvo emphasized that the lake is not merely a backdrop, but a true protagonist capable of holding secrets and reflecting the moods of the characters. Andrea Vitali, who was present, expressed great satisfaction with the adaptation, stating that he had “rediscovered his world” in the television version.
The series, which features an outstanding cast including Paola Minaccioni, Domenico Centamore, Claudia Potenza, and Antonio Catania, unfolds over four evenings (eight episodes in total) and will soon air in prime time on Rai 1. Following its success in Bari, Una finestra vistalago will continue its journey on April 15 with a presentation at the Rai Com Screenings in Assisi.
For Alexandra Film, this participation in BIF&ST represents further confirmation of the company’s commitment to creating high-quality content that combines the great Italian literary tradition with a modern and engaging visual language.
